The onlineportal for the application for the XIV Piano Competition 2020 is now open. Further information for applicants, such as information about the application or the competition repertoire, can be found here.
The 14th Piano edition of the International Schubert Competition Dortmund will be held from 21 to 30 September 2020. We invite pianists of all nations to apply for the competition. The participants may not be older than 32 years.
The competition awards prices, worth more than € 25,000 in prize money. In addition, the 1st prize winner will receive a CD production as in previous competitions. You can listen to the CD of the last winners of the III. LiedDuo Competition 2018 here.
As already the III. Lied Duo Competition 2018, the next piano competition will be broadcast live on the Facebook page and on the homepage of the competition.
The competition rounds and the orchestra finale will take place in the Orchesterzentrum NRW in the city center of Dortmund. Traditionally, the third round of the competition will again feature Franz Schubert’s great last sonatas, each with a playing time of around 40 minutes. Nowhere else in the world is there a chance to hear these sonatas live a whole day, played by the most promising young pianists in the world.
The orchestra finale will be accompanied by the Duisburg Philharmonic. In honor of Ludwig van Beethoven’s 250th birthday, this competition edition will exclusively feature his piano concertos in the finale. Tickets for the orchestral finale will be available on the homepage of the competition from spring 2020.
The prizewinners concert will be on September 30, 2020 in the compressor hall of the Hansa coking plant. The program includes representative works from the competition program of all prize winners, which the jury will put together after the orchestra finale.
An important feature of the competition is that the participants can be accommodated at Dortmund host families on request. If you are an applicant and want to use this offer, please indicate this when applying in the onlineportal.
