All Duos (Singer (all vocal registers) and Piano) of all nations, who were born after 24 September 1985, are entitled to apply for the competition.

Please attach a uncut video to your application. The recording must not be older than one year. Cuts and Editings of the video are not permitted. Please upload the video on an Online-Video-Platform (e.g. YouTube (also possible in “private mode”), your own homepage) and send us the link with your application (via the Online-Application-Form).
Cuts between the songs are possible, so that you don’t have to do the three songs in one take. You can cut three takes (one for each song) in one video. Only cuts in the songs are not allowed
Application and Application Deadline
The registration for the International Schubert-Competition Dortmund is only possible via our Online-Application-Form (see Application). We do not any longer accept applications via mail and will only consider complete applications.
Please attach the following documents to your application in the Online-Application-Form:
– proof of age (birth certificate, passport or ID-Card as a scan)
– a short CV: musical education (university and teacher), competitions awards, concert activities
– your competition programm (see competition repertoire)
– a portrait photo in high resulation, which should not be older than two years
– the link to your preselection video
Application Deadline is April, 30th 2018.
The Application Fee is 100,00 € per Duo.
The payment of the application fee is to be made with the Online-Application by PayPal, CreditCard or Bank Transfer.
The Application Fee will not be refunded.
Invitation to the competition
The competition pre-jury will decide after the application deadlinde and after watching all preselection videos in June 2018 who will be invited to the competition. All applicants will be informed about the results. The decision can not be contested and no reason need be given. A legal claim to participate in the competition does not exist.
The registered participants have to inform the competition office immediately, if they want to renounce participation. In this case the application fee will not be refunded.
All of the three competition rounds in the Orchesterzentrum NRW and the prizewinner concert in the “Kompressorenhalle der Kokerei Hansa” are open to the public. The first round begins on September 25, 2018. The personal registration for the competition and the draw for the competition order will take place in the Orchesterzentrum NRW on September 24, 2018. Participants, who don’t appear to the registration, arrive too late to the registration or the competition rounds or can’t show their confirmation of participation, may not require to be heard in the competition.
The complete competition repertoire (including all conditions) is binding for the participants competition program. Later changes to the competition program are not possible.
A page turner is freely available for all pianists. Participants can bring their own page turners at their own costs.
Prizewinner Concert and Award Cermony
The Prizewinner Concert will take place in the “Kompressorenhalle der Kokerei Hansa” at 6pm on September 30, 2018. The free attendance at the prizewinner concert is obligatory. It’s expected that the prizewinners receive their prices personally. The program of the prizewinner concert will be made by the jury after the 3rd round.
The International Schubert-Competition Dortmund offers a limited amount of private accommodations in host families (where you also can practice) for free. This offer is only available for participants of the competition and not for persons who visit the competition. Please indicate in the Online-Application-Form, if you want to use this service. In case that there are less private rooms than participants, who expressed the wish for a private accommodation, those participants are eligible for a private accommodation, who applied first. The participants will have a transport-arrangement from their host family to the Orchesterzentrum NRW. The participants have to pay travel and hotel costs by themselves.
Prize-Winners are obligated in their future careers not to indicate any awards other than those actually given to them. The Competition Organizers reserve the right to put right any misrepresentations by the press and if necessary to resort to legal means to do this.
The III. LiedDuo-Competition 2018 will be broadcasted on the competitions facebook page via livestream. The Competition Organizers have the right, without giving any fee to the competitors or their assign. a) to make a radio-recording, tv-, video- or film-shot and/or take photographs from all competitions and from the Prize Winners Concert to offer it the press b) to make and sell records, cds, tapes, videos etc. from all competitions completely or in cuttings without print-limit or to assign the production and sell to other people.
Acceptance of conditions
The applicants accept the competitions conditions and accept all decisions of the jury in advance with their application via the Online-Application-Form. The legal recourse is excluded.
