The Schubert Competition
The International Schubert Competition Dortmund has been held with great success in the heart of the Ruhr region since 1987. In the categories “Piano” and “LiedDuo” it s aimed at young, highly talented musicians to support them in launching their careers. Through its program design, the Schubert Competition also offers a unique opportunity to introduce participants and audiences to the world of Franz Schubert.
The competition aims to strengthen the cultural diversity and attractiveness as well as the regional perception of the Ruhr region. Its events, such as the competition’s prizewinners’ concerts or the International Schubert Festival Dortmund, in front of the machines in the compressor hall of the Kokerei Hansa contribute to this in particular, anchoring the International Schubert Competition Dortmund as an international cultural event in a region formerly characterized by mining and heavy industry.
