From July 17 to 19, 2026, it was once again time for “Classical Music Meets Coking Plant!” (Klassik trifft Kokerei!). In front of the unique backdrop of the compressor hall at the Hansa Coking Plant industrial monument (Kokerei Hansa), three concerts featuring former prize winners of the Schubert Competition as well as Erika Geldsetzer, Gustav Rivinius and Prof. Michael Stegemann brought works by Franz Schubert to the stage. For the opening, the LiedDuo Giacomo Schmidt and Jong Sun Woo (prize winners 2023) invited audiences to a song recital featuring Franz Schubert’s “Die schöne Müllerin”. In a piano recital, 2025 prize winner Maximilian Kromer presented works by Franz Schubert and Franz Liszt. For the grand finale, Geunpyo Park (2nd prize 2025) and Fanyu Zeng (3rd prize 2025) collaborated with Erika Geldsetzer and Gustav Rivinius to prepare and perform each one of Schubert’s piano trios.
